Real Life

We went to Oxford to a concert. As a consequnce it is too late to write imaginatively about it, but it was a pleasure to experience music that is inteligent in its lyrics, its soundscapes and its performance. Joyful and sombre; rooted in the English folk tradition but extending well beyond it, musically, geographically, linguistically, instrumentally. Suffice to say that, if you get a chance to see one of their tour performances, I would take it

Their description of one of the most striking lyrics is: "Sometimes there is some surreal joy to be had in describing our slightly mundane-meets-apocalyptic collective experience of 2024. You have to find joy where you can!” - a sentiment I see again and again on blip. The chorus contains the repeated line "Drink up soon this place is closing"

You can sample the music here

Earlier, I dismantled some used frames and rendered some of the wax for us to use as candles. "Don't you want to remove the messy spoon?", said MrsM. But blip shows life as it is lived, mundane or apocalyptic
