Yellow Shoes

I finally managed to open the box and try them on this afternoon. They slip a bit on the heel.I missed the part on the sizing chart where they  listed all the ways in which they would accommodate wider feet but 'they might not fit if you have a narrow foot.' I have wide toes and a narrow heel which means I always struggle to find regular shoes (as opposed to  tennis shoes) that fit. I'm used to it and have a few tricks in my closet....

We have settled on a name for our bluebird visitor...That Damn Bird! Caroline, our cleaner stopped by with some transparent double sided sticky paper. It's designed to discourage cats from scratching the furniture but we're hoping it will discourage her from perching on the porch furniture and doing the inevitable.  I hope we don't find her permanently affixed to the back of the chair but I would really like to take the newspaper off the front door. It doesn't exactly welcome human visitors.

We watched a rather charming Netflix movie called Nonnas last night. My niece, the actor, has a small role in it, although I confess I'm not quite sure who she played yet. It's a bit formulaic, but a fun spoof on Italian Nonnas everywhere with a feel good ending, so just what the doctor ordered. it's a good antidote to all the mean spirited nastiness emanating from Washington.

I mean,  he asks us all to make sacrifices for his 'beautiful plan' involving decimating every social safety net and every environmental protection and our relationships with the rest of the world, painstakingly put in place over decades. And chides us saying we only need  2 dolls for Christmas instead of 3O. This is the same man who is demanding a military parade with an Air Force flyover to celebrate his birthday and has accepted a new 747 from Qatar. The man who has made life hell for hispanic immigrants but has just welcomed a plane load of Afrikaans 'refugees'. I could go on, but why bother?

Wine time now. I wonder if the wannabe king who doesn't drink is driving all the rest of us to drink?
