Rhododendron: Pretty in Pink

The first time I ever saw my house, it was early May, and the huge pink rhododendrons were in bloom. Some of them are nearly as big as dinner plates. I believe these are called pink catawba. There are also some purplish ones that are just beginning to open; and then later on, some pale, almost white ones.

We were inundated by rain on this day - one to four inches fell in central and southern Pennsylvania over 24 hours, causing flooding in some spots, mostly south of where we live. The rhodies were opening and they looked so pretty covered in raindrops, so here they are: pretty in pink.
