Native Beauty...

I'm a big fan of our native wildflowers! What some folks see as 'weeds', the pollinators and I appreciate as natural beauty all around us! These tiny daisy-like flowers are on the Eastern Daisy Fleabane plant. Daisy Fleabane has historically been used to treat a number of medical conditions. And our Southern tradition reminds us that, true to its name, Fleabane's foliage is effective at keeping fleas away and was often used to stuff mattresses.
I often try to deadhead and collect Fleabane seeds to sow in my yard, but for reasons unknown to me they never seem to survive. So I'll just continue to enjoy their beauty, until they're mowed down.
