Ducklings
We went to West Dean gardens today (it’s free entry all this week for Mental Health Week). I didn’t see any hares (there are apparently lots there) but I did find some cute little ducklings in the stream.
This evening I was in the garden when, for reasons best known to itself, a baby sparrow (very young, no feathers) jumped out of its nest under the eaves (thankfully we are single story, although that’s still quite a fall). I feared the worst but it started wriggling so Mr DA and I decided to try and get it back into its nest. It was an incredibly tricky angle but I just managed to gently tip it back in with a spoon while standing on a stepladder. It was so active though that I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it jumped out again. This time of year is wonderful but also stressful.
