WFH - the dream
Went over to Chichester for an 8am appointment with a charming podiatrist who at some expense is going to help me cure my plantar fasciitis. V had it a few years ago as do other friends and although mine isn’t too bad and it is just in my left foot, it is painful and has, even more catastrophically limited me to a small range of shoes. He made to measure these simple insoles that can go in almost any shoe although I can only wear trainers for now. Whilst he made up the insoles I wandered into the centre of Chichester and found a huge plant stall selling very cheap perennials starting at £2.50 a pop. Nothing earth shatteringly original but useful and a good colour range.
Drove back through beautiful weather and shimmering countryside. The hawthorn is amazing this year although much of it has started to fade to pale pink. Exquisite.
I was back home by 11 and spent the day working from home reading and doing several calls. The weather was warm and some of my reading might have been done in this outside office. And some in my hammock. As I lay there finishing the book I’d been reading I heard a cuckoo.
The press release about my move to Element hit the trade paper Broadcast today, I just wanted it stated where I’d ended up but going onto the website and being front page news ALL MORNiNG made me feel a bit sick. It said Kate Harwood ‘emerges at Element’. One friend said it sounded like a Cambridge spy turning up in Moscow, another that it made him think of the Loch Ness Monster. I feel it’s more like whack-a-mole.
Watered all the plants at the end of the day, including the new ones.
V had a dreadful long drive to school and then a snappy one back. We watched the hilarious most recent episode of The Studio with an off the charts funny cameo from Bryan Cranstone.
