Stornoway Sunday

All quiet in the harbour and the town on a typical Stornoway Sunday. Although I'm in no way religious I don't mind the quiet Sundays here. I feel no need to go shopping seven days a week so don't really see the problem with the shops being shut for a day.

But what I do find silly is that you can't go to the sports centre, use the golf course, or get a bus, playgrounds still have 'respect the sabbath' signs on their gates (at least they're not padlocked on a Sunday anymore!) and some people still frown on washing being put out! But things are changing, we now have flights and ferries on a Sunday and you can have a meal out or a takeaway, or a drink in a pub. An island full of contradictions sometimes.

This was taken on our dog walk round the castle grounds, we managed to avoid the rain by minutes both ends - it poured down on the journey both on the way there and on the way back.
