Finished reading “Beautyland", a superb novel ostensibly about an alien planted on earth in utero to report back to the motherworld on terrestrial conditions. Taken less than literally it reads as the visions of a girl on the spectrum who finds life bewildering as we follow her and her mother and friends over a forty year plus period in Philadelphia and New York. Great stuff with some very witty one liners and poignant paragraphs on sex, grief and consumerism. 99p on kindle at the moment. A really touching read.
