Healing

I was trying to think of a word to describe how I feel about Somerset and the title of this blip immediately sprung to mind. I really feel inner peace here.

Our penultimate day in Watchet took us to Lorna Doone country, probably the most beautiful few square miles that this area has to offer. Its ancient woodland with deep-sided Coombes and waters are a joy to behold.

We had intended going to Linton and Lynmouth but Sal had a lingering headache and I was still feeling a bit sore from my Fyne Court walk. Lynmouth can get a bit crazy on sunny days so we plumped for a good old favourite Malmsmead where we knew we could get a coffee and sit on the banks of Badgeworthy Water to drink it and then just mooch about. The small river forms the boundary between Somerset and Devon. Sal bought a few bits in the gift shop and I took photos of things I’d taken many times before!

We then went along the valley on the narrowest of roads to Robber’s Bridge. The bridge takes its name from the fact that much of this area was dangerous bandit country in past centuries. This is where I took the photo of Sal.

In the evening I went in to Minehead to re-grab some Turf Zones and then watched the sun go down from Watchet Harbour. Another fine day :-))).
