Desperately seeking

"Oh Where, Oh Where, Has My Little Dog Gone?

Slows car and winds down window: "Is that your dog?"
"No!"

Stops car, gets out and locks it. Approaches little dog.Thinks it's a Jack Russell.

Picks little dog up. Little dog struggles. Allows little dog to lick face, just to keep it happy.

No collar so no ID tag. "Oh, sweetheart, I hope you haven't been dumped on the A66!"

Chooses between 2 long drives. Walks towards an enclave. Knocks on the only door with a car outside. No answer. Knocks on the next, and the next ..."Oh what are we going to do now? These are probably only holiday homes."

No Post Office, no Shop, no pub, ah, but there is a Vet's, maybe they'll recognise you or be able to read a chip! "I'll just pop you in the car while I think out what to do next, you're getting heavy."

"NOPPY! ... WHERE ARE YOU? ... NOPPY!"

"HELLO!"

"NOPPY! ... NOPPY"

"HELLO!"

The man will be so pleased the dog can answer him! A man appears from a house down another drive. Walks towards him. Man makes gesture of thankfulness. Puts dog down and lets her run towards him.

"Naughty Noppy, getting loose. Where was she?"

"Up on the road with the buses and lorries!"

"She's only 2 years old and called Monopoly, Noppy for short!"

Exchanges a few words and leaves, glad that Noppy's Get Out Of Jail Free card didn't end in disaster!
