Gently down the stream

Motherly?

I saw this moorhen sitting in the reeds on the Nuns' Stream this morning and instantly assumed her to be a female sitting on eggs.  It was something about her motherly look, but I could well be reading far to much into it because, a) it must be rather on the late side to still have a clutch of eggs and b) she could just as well be he!  Anyway I thought s/he looked quite sweet (which I don't often think about moorhens, as some of you know) and decided to make him/her my blip for today.

The rest of the day's been quiet but busy: walking dogs, doing the washing, cleaning, paying bills, reading, etc, etc.  J and K are both out so I have had the place to myself and was intending to garden, but the ground's so hard it's a pretty unrewarding occupation right now.

Have a happy evening  xx
