Surprise
I went to the window in Terry's hospital room for the benefit of the breeze lowing through and spotted this which I thought rather unusual but Terry has seen it before.
Terry phoned me this morning and I shot up to answer the call (I was asleep on the settee having had a very bad night). He sounded better and brighter than yesterday. He told me he had slept from 9pm to 2am (thanks to some oramorph) and it's nowhere near enough, especially when you are fighting serious infection, but it's way better then the sleep he got the night before which was none.
He was flagging a bit again when I arrived at visiting time (13:30) and consequently he slept through a lot of my visit but I am fine with that - I am just happy to sit there beside him.
I keep getting emotional about him as it is very slow progress and just as he seems to be picking up he appears to take a step backward but his IV antibiotics were changed (well one of them was) yesterday and hopefully will make a difference. He is still full of cold sores and not able to eat any more than tiny amounts but his oxygen levels are okay and his chest xray today was fine.
The medical team came to see him this morning and the main man told him they'd see what the MRCP shows on Sunday and they might do another one a week later. Looks like a long haul.
Yesterday evening his son was supposed to be visiting him but rang to cancel again.
I was so worried and upset about Terry yesterday that I was going to go back for evening visiting but he said not to because he wasn't up to it and besides, if I turned up tearful it's not going to help him is it?
When I went shopping this morning there wasn't much I needed. I got Terry some pieces of melon and took them in a cool-pack for him - he might not be able to face any but I keep taking bits of things that he might be able to get some parts down.
Another lovely day and not too hot as there was a nice breeze.
I missed the bus home from the hospital as it came early (very unusual) and had a fair wait as the next one came late (usual)!
