Garden Status
Somehow, we finished all our big jobs yesterday. I got 12,000 steps out of the deal. We were up by 6:30 and out the door by 7:50. Our goal was 8:00 so the day started great. I filled all the feeders while hubby washed up a few dishes. Decided to capture some of my garden specimens to share. I love peonies but have them by the she shed to minimize the number of ants near the house. The Chinese privet smells nice. It’s by hubby’s shed and gets pruned as soon as the blooms all wither. He hates the low branches when he mows. It is considered an invasive species but I control its spread. The spider worts have really spread this year. Many have finished blooming. I wanted to document my vegetable garden. My lettuce is beautiful. Sure hope the kids cut some. Sharing this article about the benefits of gardening. We brought my leftover food from Mission BBQ and a ham sandwich for hubby; enjoyed it at a very clean rest stop picnic area. Our drive has been dicey at times. Road construction caused a huge mess on I-81. We got off near Roanoke, Va. and decided to take route 11. Big mistake. We missed a turn and drove throughout that city for way too long. Once we got back on the interstate, we ran into a terrible rain/thunderstorm. Winds up to 70 mph and large hail were forecast. We missed the hail but had to pull off twice when the rain caused 0% visibility. We are 28 miles from our hotel and the sun is peeking from behind the gray clouds. Weather and road construction cost us 1.5 hours. We are grabbing something to go with the salads I made for dinner in our room. I know hubby will be happy to get off the road. We’ll be less than three hours from the celebration of life event tomorrow. Wishing you an enjoyable weekend. Stay safe. Thanks for stopping by.
