Bluebells at Emsworthy
I was out early this morning on a visit to Dartmoor. Our scapes group had planned a visit this Saturday which I can't make so I decided to go beforehand. The trip was planned to start at Bellever with various other locations in the area to choose from.
It was a sunny start and I went first to the nearby clapper bridge photographing from various angles. It was a delightful earlyish morning with a grey wagtail moving up and down the stream. A small tourist group arrived and fairly quickly departed. I then decided to explore Believer Forest and ended up walking uptown the tor. It was fairly hot and I wasn't sure if the walk to the top would be worth the effort but there was only one way to find out. I'm glad I did as the views are magnificent, see extras. A few small group of people were also out walking uptown the tor and by the time I had finished there was a large group of students at the top taking photos and then a large group of young cyclists passing by.
By the time I arrived back to the car I decided to give Powdermills and Wistman's Wood a miss as I had visited it awhile ago with similar weather conditions.
I realised that it was a good time to see how the bluebells were at Emsworthy as I had spotted quite a few out in the area. I did however chicken out of taking the direct route via Widdecombe or even via Dartsmeet and instead returned to Moretonhampstead and then via Bovey Tracey to Emsworth.
It was by now early afternoon and the nearest carpark was full but I managed to squeeze into another not too far away. The bluebells were out and looking good so I spent some time enjoying photographing the scene. An enjoyable day out.
