Chequered Skipper
Six of us set off on a 9-day tour : myself, Jan, John (Parky), John (CJ), Joe and leader Stuart. We drove up to Oban on the West Coast of Scotland, where we spent our first evening. Oban is best known as the gateway to the Hebridean islands.
On the way to Oban, we called at the nearby Glasdrum Wood nature reserve. Glasdrum is home to this rare chequered skipper butterfly. These butterflies are quite small - wingspan approximately 29 to 31 mm.
