A Fantastic Friday!
To London on the train and down to Waterloo on ‘The Drain’ (the Waterloo & City Line, seemingly so-named because the of the drain-like appearance of the lengthy sloping subway access to the platforms at Bank station). I had time for a Tuna Niçoise salad and a slice of carrot cake before going into the BFI IMAX cinema - fast becoming a favourite venue of mine - to see the newly-restored and re-mixed film ‘Pink Floyd at Pompeii’ on the largest screen in the UK (see main blip). Well worth the effort of going there to hear it in surround-sound on an excellent system, for which purpose I had booked the best seat in the house, right in the “sweet spot”.
After the film, I had a leisurely wander along the South Bank in the sunshine (see Extras), and enjoyed a 99 flake ice-cream cone before travelling back home.
After a bite to eat, I called round for Christine and we drove over to the Old Crown Inn at Messing - the next village to Tiptree - to watch some Morris dancing (see final Extra). They had a lovely traditional group of musicians to accompany them, and their dances were from various places across England. We thoroughly enjoyed it, although the evening breeze became a little chilly. However, we soon warmed up back inside the pub with a cup of hot chocolate and a natter. A nice way to end a really enjoyable day.
