50 years on!
50 years since this photograph of myself, Marlane and my Grandmother, Mary Pattison of South Shields. It's a very poor photo taken from a sheet of the proofs. I would have used the original photos, in the album, if I could find it!
My Grandma had travelled all that way to be at our wedding, at the time I was her only grandchild, Maryanne Pattison came along later, my Uncle's daughter.
17 May 1975 we were married at St Peter's church, Gloucester.
My Grandmother had never been inside a Catholic church and she was just astounded at how similar the Mass service was. Anglican is the Catholic church of England as opposed to the Roman Catholic church but it sometimes used to be referred to as the 'High Church of England' so the mass is very much the same apart from the Latin bits.
Being married for 50 years takes some doing, for a start you have to stay alive that long but you also have to accept that your spouse is not always going to be perfect, and in fact can be quite annoying, but Marlane has been very good at putting up with me. She, on the other hand, is perfect and never does an annoying thing whatsoever (Hope she reads this! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA)
