A Perfect Birthday!
We visited the new Perth Museum today to see the Stone of Destiny and the fabulous Macbeth exhibit. No photos allowed in the Stone of Destiny exhibit but Henry managed to find a wee replica of the ancient throne of Westminster Abbey where the English kings have been crowned since the 13th century. (Extra) The stone was stolen in 1952 by Scottish men who wanted the stone returned to Scotland which it was in 1996. It resided in Edinburgh Castle for a time and then returned to its real home in Perthshire in 2024. The Macbeth exhibit was amazing and I saw the books King James VI wrote on demonology which also inspired Shakespeare in the writing of Macbeth and the witch trials. ( How he got into the film clip showing the “Wicked Sisters” I will never know) we also visited St John’s Church where the firebrand John Knox preached during the Reformation. Then my lovely friends treated me to a birthday dinner at the beautiful Cairn Hotel, a five minute walk from their house and Henry treated me to a birthday surprise in the hotel garden with the help of “MarkTwain”. Wonderful birthday presents too. I love them all but the sheep toilet paper holder has to be my favorite. (Collage in extras) All in all, the best birthday I’ve had in years. Tomorrow, our Macbeth theme continues, stay tuned!
