Out of my depth

This funny little character sprang at me through the lens this morning.  I've never seen anything similar.  Intriguing, isn't it, but I have to admit being well out of my depth with ID.  I've got as far as being quite confident that it's a leaf weevil - either a green leaf weevil (Phyllobius argentatus) or an immigrant green leaf weevil (Polydrusus formosus) but will leave you to decide which if you're interested.  I'd go for the latter personally.  It was found on a young hazel leaf if that helps.

Two of my good friends have had birthdays within the last week so this afternoon we got together to celebrate.  I am now stuffed with homemade scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam.  Mercifully most of the cake was taken home for others to eat..
