First Lettuce

After yesterday, it was a struggle to consider a morning at the allotment! But, the veg don't grow without water and care.

Last year, we decided that whole lettuce might be more fun than the baby salad leaves we always grow. Here they are, I came home with a lollo rosso, a warpath iceberg, and some radiccho leaves for bitterness. We have been inundated with someone else's dill seeds, and tiny wee dill plants are popping up all over the place. Today, I picked and repotted 10 pots of 10 plants, and I could do the same again easily.

The boy is in York ladding it up with pals. I don't know how much they can cope with, but I know they will be pushing the boundaries. I've enjoyed the peace, I've enjoyed the lack of compromise over what to eat, watch or do. I've enjoyed the lack of tv. That said, I have missed him.
