Life in Sunny Dubai

Last week, when I got the oil change on the car, because I opted for the 10K oil, I was given a complimentary car wash voucher, to be used by 18th May. In typical GK style, the voucher was redeemed on the last day. It just wasn't convenient during the week. (I had an interesting chat with a young Emirati woman who was also in the waiting room while the guys worked on her SUV. We didn't exchange names, but we talked about the length of time I had lived here and why I didn't have a passport or even a golden visa yet. She works for a local development bank, so is more than a little removed from the lives of ordinary folk.)

So, this is the result. Having got the car cleaned on the outside and inside, I drove to Caesar's to have a sizzler (see my extra). The car park wasn't as busy as it normally gets on a Sunday due to free parking, so there was plenty of time to get the right angle for this shot. It is the better side of the car (the other side has a dent that, er, I put there in its first few months). I have to say - I do not worship my car, and half of the meal came home with me!

I called in at Spinneys before coming home for the evening. And in the morning, after doing the weekly chores, I finally managed to pin G down for a video call. She is catching the sun big time.

And just like that, another weekend is over. I'm glad with what I managed to tick off the mental list.

PS. The sharp-eyed among you might spot the UAE flag on the building behind. ;)
