Topping out
I have been 'hors de combat' over the weekend due to a combination of a heavy cold and bad toothache. I don't think watching as much of the Eurovision Song Contest as I did last night helped but I did enjoy Crystal Palace winning the FA Cup final. Ultimately I had a very fitful night's sleep and really struggled to achieve some relief of the pain from my toothache. So it will be a trip to Farnham tomorrow for an urgent appointment at the dentist. In the meantime here's a picture I took when I walked down to the village yesterday morning to collect my Saturday paper. This building is on course to being the smallest house in Chobham and it has clearly already reached the topping-out stage. The symbol of the crossed builders tools, marking the placement of the new building's final roof beam, is appropriately set against the template of a cross given the site was previously a place of worship, Chobham Gospel Hall, albeit long out of use.
