Looking Deeper Into The Book Of Ruth.....
We came together at FBC to worship and praise God from Whom all blessings flow under skies that held no trace of the rain we so desperately need, but the air conditioners were working,so we were grateful for that. We began our service with a congregational song to unite our hearts and voices as we prepared to look deeper into the book of Ruth to see more of God's providential work in the lives of the people He loved then, and what it means for His on-going providential work in our lives today. The opening song was followed by the welcome from Pastor Wes. Because Daniel is out of town this weekend, Larry D. was our guest director as the choir, orchestra and all our talented accompanists presented a powerful rendition of "How Great Thou Art". After a few more congregational songs, Pastor Wes directed our attention to the third chapter of Ruth where we found out more about the concept of the "kinsman redeemer" as Naomi advises Ruth about how to approach Boaz and we read about the ensuing encounter between Ruth and Boaz. For all the details regarding those events, I urge you to watch or listen to the Live-stream, but I will tell you two things stood out to me. Ruth had to approach Boaz to seek redemption, just as we have to come to God, knowing that we need a redeemer. And, Boaz went beyond what he was required to do because he wanted to just as God was not required to redeem us from the broken relationship we had with Him. God offers us redemption because He wants to. We will see how it all pans out next week. At the end of the service, one young man made his public profession of faith. The perfect way to end the morning,,,,,
