Feeding time
I love this time of year with new life bursting forth everywhere. However ubiquitous Canada Geese may be and - by association - their offspring, these little balls of fluff are always adorable.
We come across several little families on our walk, parents and babies grazing on grass rather than swimming. The youngsters don’t always find it easy to get hold of long blades of grass in their little beaks,or to realise that moving closer might give them a better chance.
On the water, a young coot sticks close to its mother, clearly a bit behind its siblings who have wandered off to find their own food. It looks most puzzled when she disappears, diving down for the next morsel - then stretches out, legs spread-eagled behind, reaching out for food.
My main features my favourite little gosling, beak open wide ready to munch a blade of grass, with a collage of sibling views and the baby coot’s feeding efforts in extras.
