Here Be Dragons

A trip out to Thursley National Nature Reserve was on the cards. I was hopeful for seeing lots of dragonflies and damselflies for which the reserve is renowned; I was not disappointed!

It is still fairly early in the season but I saw loads of four-spotted chasers and damselflies. It was good to see so many more than in recent years after a devastating wildfire in 2020.

Most were flitting around at high speed, and even coupling on the wing, but after many attempts I managed one heavily edited shot of one flying (extra).  One of my favourites of the day was my main of one perched on a trip looking at me looking at her with a glorious bokeh background.
