Ringed Plover on Eriskay
Today we left our temporary accommodation on South Usit and drove over the causeway to Eriskay.
We had lunch at the local pub, AM Politician. This pub is named after the SS Politician - the ship which sank just off the coast in 1941 with a precious cargo of whisky (22,000 cases). Much of this whisky was illegally recovered by islanders. The incident was made famous by the film Whisky Galore. A film the BBC seem to show almost every Christmas.
After lunch we traveled to our main accommadation in North Uist via the islands Benbecula and Grimsay.
The weather was fine but a bit windy.
Extra - my friend Jan scanning the beach and the sea - for wildlife, not whisky. Second extra - Eriskay's famous football pitch.
