We’ve got a few more scattered around the house too — she loves painting rock.

Party prep is in full swing for Sunday! It’s our youngest’s 30th birthday and G is busy planning a surprise party for her Auntie. Now, here’s the fun bit — Jo knows about the party… but G doesn’t know that Jo knows. Though Jo knows that G doesn’t know she knows. But really, we all know she knows — except G. G thinks Jo’s just popping over to collect Douglas after their holiday. (She's been whisked away to Rome for a pre birthday treat)  We’ve had him for half the week, then he’s off to G’s while we go up to Brian’s funeral.

We’ve got a party WhatsApp group going (courtesy of G), and the messages are flying in thick and fast now that the big day’s nearly here — links to Amazon next-day must-haves, lists, reminders, and the odd panic about decorations. I’ve been given the task of baking a Victoria sponge cake — decorated in the style that Gran used to make — and if I pull it off, it’ll have Jo in tears, guaranteed. She loved Gran’s cakes.

Now just crossing fingers that the gorgeous weather continues — would be lovely to celebrate out in the garden.  Roll on Sunday!
