The Old Butchers Shop ….

… is now a delightful cafe in the historic town of Millthorpe in the central west of NSW where we stopped for lunch today.
I hadn’t been up Mt Canobolas for 30 years so we took another detour on the way home from Orange - what a magnificent view!! Something I wasn’t aware of was that the area at the base of Mt C was seriously considered in 1902 as the site of our new national capital. It would have been a shame to fill it with a bunch of embassies, houses for thousands of public servants and call it the ACT. A sheep paddock on the banks of the Molonglo River was a much better idea!!
