Prickly Pear Cactus

Opuntia humifusa or Eastern Prickly Pear. I have a love hate relationship with this cactus in the greenhouse. It is in a raised bed and over a metre in all directions.  Go anywhere near it and the spines seem to find you and go through layers of clothing.
But at this time of year it is spectacular. Look closely and you can see the red fruits from last year. Apparently edible though I have never tried them.
