Loch an Eilein

After leaving the accommodation - still without having seen anyone working there and therefore, not having yet paid for my stay* - I followed Julian's suggestion and stopped at Loch an Eilein, near Aviemore, and walked around the Loch through the beautiful Rothiemurchus forest. It is quite a small Loch with an island castle ruin, and the walk round is short but I took my time, enjoying the views, sometimes siting on a log to listen to the birds and try and identify them (I am useless), stroking ancient pines, and generally making the most of being in this beautiful place. It was far more touristy than last time I was there. There is now a café/shop selling ice-cream and an attended carpark etc..
I stopped again in Dunkeld for a bite to eat and an ice-cream. I had a bit of a panic, when I got back to the car and couldn't find my keys. They were not at the place where I ate, but the waiter there confirmed that they were on the table when he delivered my food. They were really helpful and one member of staff came with me as I retraced my step...and found them in the ice-cream shop!

*I sent them an email and I have settled now
