You just cannot imagine.....

....how excited I was to see this today.  This is our original olive tree, bought many years ago, which had suffered from some neglect.  We repotted it and pruned it right back a few weeks ago.  All the leaves were dead & had dropped off but the branches had life in them and....now....it's finally sprouting some new leaves.  Tiny, tiny ones but they're coming so it has survived!  very pleased to see that.
