A funeral and the Robin, again.

The extra is the Robin again but this time it's not zoomed so much clearer than yesterdays. It sat there while went outside, took a photo, moved closer and took another - four times I did that before it flew away. They are so trusting of us, it's lovely.
The main photo is this mornings ride to Stroud to escort a veteran on his final journey. He was a WO1 (Army Warrant Officer 1 rank) and a veteran of the Falklands war.
We met with the funeral director, whose premises are at Stroud railway station, and then followed the hearse a few miles to the family home in Whiteshill, on the outskirts of Stroud. An interesting ride as Stroud is very hilly. There was one very sharp, 90 degree, bend which in itself is not a problem but the FD warned us that the bend is at the top of a VERY steep hill. He advised us that he would indicate when we got to it by putting on his hazard lights.
Thanks to his warning it wasn't a problem, we just hung back until the hearse and long passenger car were clear of the bend before proceeding ourselves.
There was a guard of honour of other veterans, different services indicated by the various colours of Beret's. As the coffin was being carried from the hearse one of them called out "Honour Guard - UP" at which we all saluted until the coffin, and the family members, had all passed by.
It's always a solemn task but the family are so appreciative of our small efforts.
