Tiny Tuesday - ‘Something Green’

I meant to get up at 5.30am so that I would be breakfasted, showered and dressed before the electrician arrived at 8am. I slept through the alarm and woke up at ten past six, which meant bolting down my porridge in a hurry. I’d just finished putting on my outfit for the day when his van pulled up outside at 7.30am. Phew! He got on with drilling through the outer wall in the lounge which adjoins the patio and installing an outside double power socket while I did my make-up. He had finished his work, shown me the covered sockets outside and gone by 8.05am! Very efficient, and I’m pleased with it. Now to get the motorised awning installed - might drop the company an email to say the power is installed for it, as a subtle hint.

I walked up to the Rectory for the Music meeting at a quarter to ten, and we had a good run at choosing appropriate hymns for two months’ worth of services in July and August. Once home, I booked a couple of tickets for the village fete at Layer Marney Tower next Monday on the Bank Holiday. I spent the rest of the afternoon dealing with paperwork, finalising and signing off the forms for the plaques and memorial book entries which have now been completed, so that they can be filed in the church office. I have two new ones I’m working on at the moment, with at least one more in the pipeline.

I had to have a bit of a search for the ring I’ve blipped today’s Tiny Tuesday theme in mind. It’s an original Georg Jensen design called Moonlight Blossom, featuring a highly polished green peridot. Other stones such as black agate onyx, amethyst and rose quartz have also been set into this design, and I understand it’s fairly rare because it’s a long time since any new ones were made. Georg Jensen (1866-1935) was a Danish silversmith who opened a small workshop in Copenhagen at the turn of the 20th century with what little money he had. His beautiful high quality Art Nouveau designs soon captivated the public and he was able to expand to outlets in Berlin, London and New York by the 1920’s. The eponymous company he founded still exists today, but it is the silver jewellery Jensen designed himself which remains the most highly sought after. I also have a brooch and another ring, all original Georg Jensen designs. They weren’t cheap, but are a good investment - though I bought them for their own style and timeless beauty.

Many thanks to Pinkhairedlady for hosting the Tiny Tuesday challenge in May, with this week’s theme of ‘Something Green’.
