At this time of year . . .
. . . and during these long, bright evenings, the sun actually gets round to the front, north-facing garden before it sets.
During a superb live online lecture on the stories of Katherine Mansfield, which I have always loved, we were 'given a break' at 7pm. I went outside and the light was wonderful. There was a lot of bird song, mainly I suspect a Blackbird and a Thrush but I could see nothing, presumably they were at top of high trees and I could not spot them. Far away was a Swallow on a wire - I don't think singing.
