Hawthorn in May
There is an old 18th century proverb “N’er cast a clout till May is out” referring to the fickle British weather. That certainly does not apply this year because we have enjoyed unseasonably high summer temperatures.
Talking of climate change has anyone seen any swallows or house martins? I haven’t.
Returned to the gym this afternoon after several weeks absence to be greeted with a chorus “where have you been?” Well, I had no excuse so confessed” just skiving’. It ‘s hard to work up enthusiasm for the gym when the temperature is in the 20Cs.
Health tourism
Heard of more people today who have been to Europe for orthopaedic surgery. Apparently, Canadians find it cheaper to travel there for surgery than have it done at home.
If you are in good health with no underlying medical conditions and can afford it ( half the price of going private in this country), and cant face our long waiting lists , then it becomes an attractive option.
