Herring Gull (Larus Argentatus)

After having a large hole in my tooth filled I thought I would walk off the numbness exploring some of the long quays around Maryport Harbour in the evening sun. It was very quiet but a few people sat basking with beers outside the Sailor's Return and a bevy of cyclists were quietly eating fish and chips on some wooden staging. From across the water came the sound of music where a group of local men were singing sea shanties.  Even the herring gulls were resting, in long queues on the harbour wall or standing, silver-plated, amongst the wildflowers, like this one.

Having a bill, he will never know the inconvenience of dentition.
