New island, Derwentwater
With the extremely low water levels at the moment, I explored the area to the south of the lake - off the duckboards - that are normally boggy / flooded. Extremely difficult to move across it as it was large tufts of grass, but I eventually got to the [now] edge of the lake. I had my eye on the tree in the centre of the picture, but only when I got to this position, did I realise that it was on ground that I've never seen clear of the water. Waited a long time to get the lighting I was after, and the clouds in the right position.
Shot with a polarising filter, a 6-stop ND (to smooth the water a bit without blurring the clouds) and a 0.9 ND grad to keep detail in the bright cloud.
Not sure I'll ever see it like this again - rain forecast for the weekend.
