This'n'That

Morning walk down Xwaaqw'um

I haven't walked down Xwaaqw'um for over a month because I've had a hip flexor strain, and I've had to cut back on longer walks. I've managed a few short walks but it's feeling better, so I decided to test it today. I walked much slower than I normally would there, but I loved every minute of being back in one of my favourite places on the island. Mixed weather, still a bit chilly but quite warm in more sheltered spots.
Top left: path through broom heading into a big field down to the bay. So much broom blooming everywhere just now.
Top right: the back of one of the two welcome poles on the beach. The trail that used to go directly down to the welcome poles isn't there now because of the diversion of the creek that happened with the ongoing wetland restoration. There is still access but I decided not to go down there today.
Bottom left: the view from the trail through the forest after going up a slight hill from the beach where the poles are. The water is usually a lovely green colour from the forest on both sides.
Bottom right: a huge tree that came down and is blocking the trail, but luckily it's possible to get over it. Younger people would likely climb over it but I sat on the trunk and swung my legs over.  :-))
