A hanging basket…
I couldn’t really decide what was naturally abstract until I saw this hanging basket. The blooms were all crowded together in an abstract manner but just to be sure I changed the colour a bit in Inkwork; from white to a subtle pink!
Since I spend half my life in cloud cuckoo land I thought I’d tell you the origin of the phrase.
"CLOUD-CUCKOO-LAND" is a translation of the Greek Nephelokokkugi (Nephele = cloud, kokkux = cuckoo) which is to be found in Aristophanes' comedy, The Birds, first performed in 414 BC in Athens. The play concerns two Athenians disillusioned with life in the city who go to seek somewhere better to live.
Now here’s a question? The play was first performed in 414 BC. And as we all know that is counted back from the year estimated to be the date Christ was born. But how did they know what date it was at the time?
