10 O’Clock Blues

After dropping Sophie at school, I had a manly domestic day, baking bread, mending the hinges on a cupboard door which had come loose and taking more recycling to the tip. Unlike last Wednesday, I managed all three without being assaulted by inanimate objects or doing myself any injuries.

Meanwhile, Tess was having afar more exciting coffee morning with her friends in a local cafe which was being used as the location of a police training exercise. They were given protective glasses and earplugs in advance and briefed about what was going to happen but it was apparently still quite a shock when a bevy of “armed” officers burst in and “shot” a “suspect” sitting at a table. It was part of a wider exercise taking place in our local, now closed and empty, shopping precinct and car park.

My excitement, such as it was, came later in the form of the Europa League Cup Final between Man Utd and Spurs. As a boyhood Utd fan I was disappointed, but not surprised given their shocking form this season, by the result. It was a pretty awful, if tense, game really.

Anyway, I realised after the final whistle that I hadn’t taken a photo all day so here’s the view looking west from our back garden at 10pm.
