The Calm after the Storm
Sorry, not a weather storm. A storm of 100 primary school children running round Fell Foot Park trying to follow an orienteering map. I was standing at a crucial junction helping those who couldn't workout which way to go next. After it was all over and prizes awarded for individuals and schools, us helpers scoured the park to bring in all the signs and flags . I stumbled across this view point and sat for a few moments clutching my signs and enjoyed the view, absent of excited, chattering, running children
Update on the swallows nest. We peered into the box to see how much progress had been made towards a nest. Found just a few dollops of mud and some feathers. Decided to put cardboard over the box to prevent entry and close the garage doors. Hopefully this is early enough in their nest building cycle for them to go and find a more suitable spot. Annoyingly, we have put swallow nests bought from the RSPB, in places they've built nests the past. One is occupied by a sparrow every year before the swallows arrive and the other is ignored.
