Hearts and green beads

How I’d missed my wee granddaughter. She snucked about all day with me, chumming me to the yard, to Screwfix and even to the car wash before she helped water the garden with the new hose extension. We went over to the beach awhile too and made a boat. I should record the SK did have a session too – learning Spanish amongst other things. Well, Spanishish-ish.

Earlier she made a necklace with her bead set. I said too much green – it needs some Hearts (she just about understands the significance). Come on Hibs, come on Hibs*, Hearts are rubbish she wittered. Come on Hearts I countered. Hibs are best, Hearts are rubbish she continued. You know, I started telling her, when Hearts have played Hibs in the big stadium, every single time, Hearts have won. Have they actually, she asked, looking at me uncertainly. That’s absolutely true I said. And she… suddenly burst sobbing into tears! Oh dear, silly Grandad!! It’s just a game, a silly game, honestly!!!
