1960: High-ranking Nazi official Adolf Eichmann arrested
Quote Of The Day
"Now that I look back, I realise that a life predicated on being obedient and taking orders is a very comfortable life indeed. Living in such a way reduces to a minimum one's need to think."
(Adolf Eichmann)
I really enjoy teaching these Health And Wellbeing lessons on the dangers of smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol. I like to believe that I encourage a fair percentage of my class not to partake in these vices when they get older. Eichmann was wrong; following orders does not negate the need to think if you consider deeply which orders, rules and laws you should follow and which of them you should not follow and then take the correct action. Reflexive disobedience is as disastrous as blind obedience.
