Alanya Old City Walls

Still sunny here, but slightly warmer, hitting 33⁰c.  Along with the heat, the humidity was up too, a muggy night ahead.

Up early, headed out after breakfast.  A day trip to Alanya City.  We arrived at Cleopatra Beach, then a look down the Damlatas caves.  Next stop was at the harbour, where we caught a pirate ship, which took us around Cilvarda Cape, with stunning views of the old city walls, mosque and castle.  We had lunch on the river at Dimcayi restaurant, followed by a walk around the city shops and café bars.  Headed up the cliffs on the cable car, then up to the old city, along with the mosque and castle.  Back to a quiet Friday evening in the hotel.

I really enjoy my venture out, seeing a bit more of real Turkey, I'll definitely head back into Alanya City.  The cable car and castle walks were brilliant, but harder to capture the scale of the place close up.  This side built on a slope, while the other walls built on sheer cliffs, amazing engineering for the 13th century.  From the see was definitely the best way to see the 6.5km of wall, 140 towers, and the beautiful Red Tower (Kizil Kule).  Looking to the Red Tower, along with the abundance of patriotic Turkish flags, Alanya City, Turkey.
