Here and Now

Figaro! Figaro! Figaro!

Who knew we’d be learning opera from The Little Rascals at a young age? Nobody can sing The Barber of Seville as badly as Alfalfa!

FMI: The Barber of Seville , or The Useless Precaution (il barbiere di Siviglia, ossia L’inutile precauzione) was based on a French comedy written in 1775. The opera buffa was written by Rossini with an Italian libretto by Sterbini. It premiered in 1816 in Rome. (The Marriage of Figaro, Le nozze di Figaro, was also an opera buffa, written in 1786 by Mozart.)

That’s what I learned today, all thanks to Alfalfa singing in my head when I set down the comb and scissors!

Happy weekend and holiday to those in the US and UK.
