Fun in the Garden

Poppies come and go in the yard. All the varieties self-seed, so it has nothing to do with me. There are the bright orange California poppies, the deep red Remembrance Day flowers, and these crazy tall pink beauties. Sometimes we get the big fuzzy powder-puff shapes, and sometimes this simpler kind with fewer petals. The bees like them all. There is a steady hum in the morning as they fly in and dive and roll in the pollen that collects in the cupped petals.
