Kinsol Trestle
Today we had painters in the house - the final work under our insurance claim for roof damage in the November 2024 storm - so we went out for the day. We drove south to Shawnigan Lake to Kinsol Trestle. Built 1911 - 1920 by the Canadian National Railway, it was used to move timber until the rail line closed in 1979. It was modified for pedestrian use and became part of the Cowichan Valley trail system in 2011.
After our walk to the trestle (1 km each way) then across the trestle (614 feet over and back) we were tired and hungry - and an easy choice was Merridale Cidery & Distillery - good food and beverages in the middle of their orchard - my choice today was lavender lemon soda.
