No Time To Waste In Shaking Up A Street Scene
Today started with a strong coffee watching one of my favourite guilty TV pleasures - Made In Chelsea - before heading out on a very short run as my brother's back is playing up again.
We then ventured back to The Horseshoes for a quick pint as we hadn't been there on Sunday (more of which in another catch up blip when I eventually get round to posting it). A couple of the staff were a bit nonplussed that we were there on a non customary day with a jovial remonstration of "What are you doing here on a Tuesday?" It was a lovely warm day and we virtually had the whole pub garden to ourselves with our pints and crisps based combo.
On the way home we again quickly popped into town and I managed to capture my image after only walking a few yards from the car. I'd seen the lady in the colourful top striding up the street (you can see her pointing as she was trying to indicate that she was getting out of my way as I was taking my shot) and I like how it counterbalanced with the colours of the milkshake sign on the opposite side of the frame whilst the three people in the centre of the frame are attired entirely in black and white, with a splash of orange being provided by a shop wall in the background.
When then continued our stroll through the centre of town when I guy stopped me as I was taking a shot up some steps towards the nearby shopping centre and asked if I was taking a picture of him. Initially I thought "uh-oh" and was bracing myself for some kind of confrontation but thankfully he just seemed genuinely interested in what I was doing. When I explained that I was engaged in some street photography I don't think he quite understood what is was - and to be fair we've never encountered a single other street photographer in Maidstone either (unless there is some kind of event taking place) - but he seemed quite happy to have a chat about it.
On our way back to the car we ambled through Brenchley Gardens and had another lovely chat to a lady on her way home for lunch as she tried to dissuade her straining at the leash canine companion, a tiny terrier called Angel, from heading off on her our usual route around the park as she needed to get home first, with an attempted mollifying promise that they would be back later for a proper walk.
