I've got Lando's autograph... I think

I went to Paul’s cousin’s funeral yesterday. It all went off as well as these things can.
As we were walking behind the hearse on the way to the church, we passed the local infant school. Two little lads were stood at the fence watching us go by. One of them, wide-eyed, exclaimed, “What the heeell? They’re walking in t’road!” His mate, clearly trying to reassure him, looked straight at me and Paul and said, “It’s OK—they’re holding hands.”
Well, that was it. The whole cortege burst out laughing. A much-needed moment of levity. Their poor teacher looked absolutely mortified, rushing over to drag them away from the fence.

No photos taken today, obviously so I’ve chosen one of my retirement gifts.

One of the highlights of my last day at work was a “gift” from my wonderfully crazy colleague—someone who’s made work all the more entertaining over the years.
She handed me this printed picture of Lando Norris. Now, the best part wasn’t the image itself—it was the delivery.
With a completely straight face, she said:

“So, I phoned Lando and asked if he'd send you a signed photo. Of course he said yes. And this is what he sent… You’d think with all his money he’d have a better printer, wouldn’t you?”

We were in absolute bits. She was so convincing. It was such a daft little thing, but the thought behind it was genuinely lovely.
We’ve always bonded over our shared love of F1—even if we back different teams. It’s that kind of ridiculous humour and personal touch that made it such a perfect send-off.

Retirement gifts don’t need to be fancy. Sometimes all it takes is Lando Norris and a knackered printer.
