Broom

This broom, together with gorse, is what has turned much of the countryside yellow recently. This is beside the River North Esk at Edzell, Angus. When the seed pods ripen, they can explode in hot sunshine and fire the seeds everywhere. The extra is a little piece of moorland vegetation found where the scenic route crosses the hills between Aberdeenshire and Angus (Cairn o' Mount). I think that the tiny pink flowers are Sheep's Sorrel, but they are mixed up with lots of other low growing things. Thanks to Miranda and BikerBear for organising Wild Flower Week and Flower Friday.
